The S&P 500 hit yet another high Thursday after new data showed the U.S. economy remained surprisingly resilient throughout 2023.  The benchmark index rose 0.5% to notch its fifth consecutive record on Thursday while the Dow industrials added 0.6%, or 243 points, also to a record high.
