D. Cullen Potts II

Chairman
D. Cullen Potts II serves as Chairman of the Board of CAPIS, an independent broker/dealer, based in Dallas, TX. He began his career with an internship in 1996 and then moved to marketing where he helped redesign the website. Later, Cullen became the Public Relations Director, a position he held for 10 years. In 2006, Cullen became Director of Family Affairs. In 2019 he assumed his current role as Chairman. Cullen is the majority shareholder of CAPIS, sits on the Board of Directors, and is continuing the legacy that his father, Don Potts started in 1977. He is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts.

Ann Sebert

President & Chief Executive Officer
Ann Sebert began her career at CAPIS in 2002 as an assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. Over the years, she was promoted to Controller, a position she maintained for ten years. She was then promoted to CFO and Treasurer before assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer in 2020. Ann leads the executive committee. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Southern Methodist University and maintains Series 7, 24, 27 and 63 licenses.

David Choate

Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director of Sales and Trading
David Choate began his career with CAPIS in 1986 as an account executive. For over thirty years, he has been responsible for marketing to investment managers and fund sponsors in North America. David is now the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Global Sales and Trading. In this role, he also serves on the Executive Committee. Dave received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Stephen F. Austin State University and maintains Series 3, 4, 7, 8, 24, 53 and 63 licenses.

Beni Huseinbegovic

Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer
Beni Huseinbegovic started at CAPIS in 2004 as Assistant Controller. In 2016, he was promoted to Controller and was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in March of 2020. Beni received his Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics from the University of Sarajevo. He maintains a Series 28 license.

Stephen Lamendola

Chief Information Officer
Stephen Lamendola started at CAPIS in 1999 as an accountant. After transitioning into software development in 2007, Stephen now leads our IT department as Chief Information Officer. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Louisiana State University and holds a Master of Science in IT Management from the University of Texas at Dallas. Stephen maintains a Series 28 license.

Clayton Duff

Director, International Trading
Clayton Duff joined the firm in 2008. He has worked in the industry since 1994 and held various trading and sales positions before CAPIS, including four years as a trader for First Southwest. Clayton was promoted to manager of international trading in 2019. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas Arlington. Clayton maintains Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 55 and 63 licenses.

Jason Gatewood

Managing Director, Global Trading
Jason Gatewood joined the firm in 2002 as a NASDAQ and international trader. Jason is currently a senior vice president and the executive director of global trading. Prior to his employment with CAPIS, he was an options and equity trader with Ameritrade and a financial planner with First Command. Jason maintains Series 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 24, 26, 55 and 63 licenses.

Bryan Gibbs

Director, Transition Management
Bryan Gibbs began his career at CAPIS as an intern in 2002. He was later promoted to a portfolio analyst and later to vice president, and was most recently promoted to manager of transition management in 2019. Bryan earned a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University and maintains Series 3, 7, 9, 10, 24, 55 and 63 licenses.

Chris Halverson

Director, Institutional Sales

Chris Halverson joined CAPIS in 1999. He began his career at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), advising institutional accounts on hedging in the futures markets. Today, Chris is a trusted resource for a variety of firms, including investment managers, plans sponsors, and consultants.

Chris has been actively involved with the Security Traders Association (STA) for many years. He joined the Board of Directors of STA’s local affiliate, the DSTA, in 2008 and served as its President in 2014. Shortly after that, Chris joined the STA National Board of Directors and was elected STA Chairman in 2020. He continues to be an advocate for STA and serve on the DSTA Board.

Mr. Halverson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. He and his wife Julie have two daughters, Lauren and Caroline, who keep them extremely busy. In his spare time, Chris enjoys golf, tennis, snowboarding, scuba diving and travel.

Chris Hurley

Director, Institutional Sales
Chris Hurley joined CAPIS in 1992 as an account executive and is now Senior Vice President and Director of Institutional Sales. He heads the Outsourced Trading business line for CAPIS and specializes in Commission and Transition Management. Prior to joining CAPIS, Chris was a registered representative and trader for Fidelity Brokerage and provided financial planning and investment services to high net worth clients in private practice. He earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Finance at Stephen F. Austin State University and maintains Series 3, 6, 7 and 8 licenses.

Matt Krebs

Director, Outsourced Trading
Matt Krebs joined our team in 2018 as the director of outsourced trading. Prior to CAPIS, Matt was a director of institutional equities at BTIG and a vice president of sales and trading with Knight Capital Group. He earned his degree in finance and international business from Villanova University. Matt maintains Series 7, 55, and 63 licenses.

Jon Lantz

Director, Bank & Trust Services
Jon Lantz joined CAPIS in 2006 as an institutional sales account executive. In 2018, Jon was promoted to senior vice president and director of bank & trust services. Prior to joining CAPIS, he worked as a trust officer at Bank of America. Jon earned his Bachelor and Master of Business Administration degrees with concentrations in trust administration from Campbell University. He maintains Series 3, 7 and 63 licenses.

David Lee

Director, Fixed Income Trading
David Lee has over twenty-five years of financial industry experience. Prior to joining CAPIS in 2009, he worked for eight years at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey as the director of mortgage trading. He also worked for Royal Bank of Canada as well as First Tennessee. Additionally, he spent five years with FedEx as a financial analyst and served as controller for Seven Oaks International for three years. David maintains Series 3, 7, 24, 53 and 63 licenses.

Chad Muller

Director, US Equity Trading
Chad Muller joined the firm in 2001. Prior to CAPIS, he was the manager of the margin department at Ameritrade. Chad earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Wayne State College and maintains Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 55 and 63 licenses.

Jay Vanerstrom

Director, Derivatives Trading
Jay Vanerstrom joined CAPIS in 2011. He has over thirty years of experience in financial futures including as a floor trader on the Chicago Board of Trade, where he specialized in executing trades for institutional traders and hedgers, general partner of Jackson Associates, and vice president of the financial futures division at MF Global. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University. Jay maintains Series 3, 4, 7, 55, 63 and 72 licenses.

Mark Viani

Director, Institutional Sales
Mark Viani joined the firm in 2013 as a senior vice president and the director of managed account solutions. In 2018, Mark became the executive director of business development and moved to institutional sales in 2019. Prior to CAPIS, he was the managing director of Cowen’s electronic products group and headed up trading teams at Newedge and ING Investment Management. Mark received his BS in Business Administration from Villanova University and maintains his Series 7, 9, 10, 24, 27, 55 and 63 licenses.
